Atop the hill of Velha Goa, overlooking the river, stands Our Lady of the Rosary. Afonso de Albuquerque stood at this spot and watched the sea battle of his forces and that of Adil Shah, the then ruler of Goa. The Church was built in fulfillment of his vow, only after his death in 1544-49, Old Goa.
